Victoria Pelletier joins Bo for a conversation about leadership, scaling businesses, hiring great people, and staying valuable as AI transforms the workplace. A corporate executive, professional speaker, author, and board director, Victoria has spent her career leading large-scale business and technology transformations while helping organizations navigate leadership, culture, and workforce change.

In this episode, Victoria shares how she became an executive at just 24, why entrepreneurs often become their own biggest bottlenecks, and how hiring the right people allows leaders to scale beyond themselves. She and Bo explore why real-world experience can outweigh credentials, how confidence and resilience shape effective leadership, and why trust is essential for difficult conversations. They also dive into AI strategy, why companies are measuring adoption incorrectly, the importance of people and processes in creating real AI value, and why human skills like problem-solving, reasoning, and storytelling may become even more valuable as technology advances.

Value Bombs

Stop Being the Bottleneck: You can’t scale a company while trying to do everything yourself. Build a team around the areas where you lack experience or expertise.

Hire for the Ability to Learn: Experience matters, but so do resilience, flexibility, agility, fit, and a genuine propensity to learn—especially as AI rapidly changes jobs and workflows.

Experience Can Beat Credentials: For many leadership roles, Victoria cares more about proven outcomes, communication, leadership, and real-world experience than a prestigious degree.

Confidence Gets Equated With Competence: Victoria credits part of her early career success to showing up confidently, even when she didn’t necessarily feel that confidence internally.

Admit What You Don’t Know: One of Victoria’s strengths as a young executive was recognizing the limits of her expertise and hiring people who complemented her experience.

Trust Makes Hard Conversations Possible: Leaders shouldn’t avoid confrontation. Build trust first, ground difficult conversations in facts, and approach people with care while still holding them accountable.

Be the Leader You’d Want to Work For: Victoria learned as much from poor leaders as good ones. After realizing she had become “all business all the time,” she intentionally developed a more empathetic and vulnerable leadership style.

AI Needs a North Star: Don’t adopt AI simply because everyone else is doing it. Start with the business problem you’re actually trying to solve and build your strategy from there.

AI Is a People Problem, Too: Victoria cites a framework in which 10% of AI value comes from the model or algorithm, 20% from data and supporting technology, and 70% from people and process.

Token Usage Isn’t ROI: More AI consumption doesn’t automatically mean greater productivity. Businesses need to measure actual outcomes instead of treating token spend as evidence of successful adoption.

Human Skills Become More Valuable With AI: Problem-solving, reasoning, storytelling, communication, and handling complex human situations become increasingly important as routine work gets automated.
